Overview
What EIC Transition is
EIC Transition bridges the gap between a lab result and a market-ready innovation: it funds the validation of your technology in a relevant environment while you build the business case. The 2026 budget is €100 million and competition is tough: 40 projects were selected from 611 proposals in the previous round.
A good fit if…
- Your results come from an eligible project: EIC Pathfinder or FET, ERC Proof of Concept, Horizon research and innovation actions, or civil and dual-use European Defence Fund research
- Those results are at TRL 3 completed or TRL 4
- You have done preliminary market research and know your competitors
- You plan an entrepreneurial team that mixes research and business skills
Not the right fit yet if…
- Your technology does not come from an eligible EU-funded project: consider the Accelerator or national programmes
- Your starting results are below TRL 3 or beyond TRL 4: such proposals are ineligible
- You are a large company applying alone: large companies can only take part in consortia

Eligibility decides everything here, so check the EIC’s official list of eligible projects before writing a word. Then give the business side as much weight as the science: the jury will want to know who your first customers are.
